Hotel Byron

Forte Dei Marmi, Italy

Hotel Byron is a boutique sanctuary where history and heartfelt hospitality meet the effortless coast of Forte dei Marmi. Set just steps from the sea and framed by the Apuan Alps, the villa reflects the spirit of this elegant seaside town, relaxed, refined, and quietly exclusive. Long associated with Italian summers, discreet luxury, and a life lived outdoors, Forte dei Marmi shapes the mood of the hotel itself, making Byron feel beautifully authentic to the region.

Hotel Byron began as a deeply personal dream rooted in family tradition and a love for Forte dei Marmi. The owner spent every summer here as a child and when the chance came to acquire the very first villa ever built in Forte dei Marmi, it was a gift too meaningful to pass up. A chance to create something exceptional and to share a lifelong passion for this breathtaking part of Tuscany.

The story

The villa itself dates back to 1879. By the early 1900s, the residence was transformed into a refined hotel and named after the English poet and politician George Gordon Noel Byron, who traveled through Tuscany in the 1820s. Today, Hotel Byron’s heritage lives quietly in every corner, through atmosphere, memory, and a sense of place that feels deeply lived in rather than preserved.

Your stay

No two rooms are alike. Each room, suite, and penthouse is designed to feel more like a private residence than a hotel, with bright, calm interiors, and refined materials throughout. Many open onto terraces with views of the Mediterranean, the Apuan Alps, or the shaded garden, from intimate suites to expansive penthouses with panoramic terraces and private jacuzzis. Dining is central to the experience, with Bernardo the Michelin starred La Magnolia and the more relaxed poolside restaurant, Onda.

How to spend your time

The pace is all about dolce far niente. Slow mornings at the beach, lunch on the sand, easy afternoons by the pool, and aperitivo as the sun starts to set.

When you feel like getting out, Forte dei Marmi is perfectly placed. Lucca, Pisa, Pietrasanta, the marble quarries, and even the Cinque Terre are all an easy day trip, with Hotel Byron waiting for you when you get back.

Fall in love with

Forte dei Marmi is often called the Hamptons of Italy for its quiet elegance and understated luxury. People come here for things done simply and done well, with a mostly Italian crowd mixed with international regulars that keep the vibe relaxed, authentic, and effortlessly stylish.

Expect the unexpected

Service at Hotel Byron feels warm and personal, more like staying in a beautiful private villa than a formal hotel. Food and wine are a big part of the experience, with two restaurants led by Chef Marco Bernardo, from the Michelin starred La Magnolia to the easygoing, poolside Onda, all backed by an excellent cellar of Italian and French wines. Don’t miss the chef’s table!

The best time to visit

July is the most vibrant month, especially during Bocelli’s concerts. For a softer, more relaxed Forte dei Marmi, June and early September are ideal. The weather is beautiful, the days are long, and the atmosphere feels effortlessly elegant.
