Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy’s “Queen of the Dolomites,” isn’t just easy on the eyes—it’s a full-on alpine love affair. People don’t come here just for the views (though yes, the views are absurdly good). They come for the elegance, the energy of the seasons, and that hard-to-explain feeling that they’re exactly where they’re supposed to be. Now, with the grand reopening of Hotel Ancora, one of Cortina’s most iconic addresses returns to the spotlight—this time as one of the latest gems in the Querido Collection.
Cortina itself is having a bit of a renaissance, and the buzz is only going to build with the 2026 Winter Olympics around the corner. But even without the spotlight, the town is magic.
Hotel Ancora has always been part of the story in Cortina. Since 1826, it’s been right at the center of Cortina’s social life, a gathering place for locals, travelers, artists, and adventurers. After a stunning transformation by Studio Charles & Co, Ancora steps into the present without losing touch with its roots. The design is a rare balance—rustic timber set against cool marble, alpine textures layered with modern finishes, art and objects that feel collected rather than curated.
Hotel Ancora has just 35 rooms—18 guest rooms and 17 suites—and every single one is a little sanctuary. Think timber walls, soft textures, layered lighting, and windows that open up to those jaw-dropping Dolomite views. The suites step it up even more. The Ancora Suite is perched above Corso Italia with a wraparound terrace that’s made for morning cappuccinos or stargazing after dinner. And the Imperial Suite? It comes with its own private sauna and jacuzzi, so you can warm up and wind down in total privacy.
The food is a highlight, too. Chef Andrea Chivetto leads the kitchen with fresh takes on traditional alpine dishes at The Restaurant. Over at The Veranda, the menu is more global. And The Bar -It’s where things heat up after dark, with signature cocktails, the occasional DJ set, and that just-right mountain energy.
Then there’s the Spa & Club, which covers 230 square meters and includes a Turkish bath, a hammam, cryotherapy, and a peaceful yoga zone. Whether you’re coming off a hike or a heavy lunch, this is the place to reset. There’s also a gym on-site, and if you want a massage or a custom wellness treatment, just ask.
Ski gear? They’ll set you up. Need a lift to the slopes? It’s ready. Want dinner reservations at that locals-only trattoria? Done. At Ancora, they’ve thought of everything—and they make it feel effortless.
