King’s Day The Querido Way!

King’s Day in Amsterdam is a unique experience that our team was thrilled to be a part of this year with De L’Europe, a Querido hotel situated right in Amsterdam’s heart with rich Dutch history. With its prime location on the banks of the Amstel River, De L’Europe is surrounded by the best energy from locals and visitors.

The Dutch celebrate this day by partying as if there is no tomorrow, and we made sure to make the most out of it!

King’s Day, orĀ Koningsdag in Dutch, is the national holiday in the Netherlands that honors the country’s monarch, King Willem Alexander. It is, in fact, “THE” Dutch national holiday! Celebrated on 27th April (King’s birthday), the Dutch take to the streets dressed in orange for one of the year’s biggest celebrations with a wide variety of events happening all over the country – from flea markets to boat parties and street festivals.

As King’s Day is known for being a celebration of the color orange in honor of the House of Orange-Nassau, De L’Europe stole the show with orange customized sweaters, hats, and accessories for our visiting Rockstars! All aboard the boat with the best orange attire, we were ready for a day of music, dancing, and…lots of Heineken Beer!

On King’s Day, Amsterdam’s canals are flooded with a sea of orange as thousands of brightly decorated party boats fill with locals watching and dancing from one of the many bridges. Although the street parties are fun, a day boat on the canal is the best way to celebrate King’s Day and experience the beautiful city from the water!

Lang leve de koning!
